Kebbi government approves N675m in furniture expenses for elected council chairmen

The sum of N675 million has been approved by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for the payment of furniture allowance to the state’s 21 elected chairmen of local government councils.

This information was released to the media on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi by the governor’s chief press secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Idris.

Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Umar, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, is quoted by Idris as saying that “the approval is for 2022 to 2024.”

The permanent secretary thanked the governor for his kind act and praised him for his work on projects that directly affect people’s lives in general as well as for giving people’s lives purpose.

Alhaji Aminu Ahmed, who serves as both the chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government and the chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, responded to the development by praising the governor on behalf of his colleagues.

He promised that the funds would cover furniture expenses for the secretaries, council members, and local government council.

The allowance was overdue, but with the inauguration of this administration, our honorable and gracious governor graciously granted it. This shows strong leadership.

He prayed, “May Almighty Allah guide him and bestow upon him the wisdom to excellently direct the affairs of the state.”
