The MI-171 helicopter recently crashed, killing some soldiers, and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, expressed his condolences to the Nigerian Air Force.
Obi called the situation unpleasant and expressed his sadness about it.
His heart is with the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the incident, he stated in a statement posted on his social media account on Thursday.
The former governor of Anambra State also bemoaned the high degree of unrest prevailing in the nation.
In addition to the associated financial expenditures, he claimed that it has continued to humiliate the country and cost it valuable lives and property.
He urged the NAF and other security agencies to remain upbeat in the face of difficulties, but he also called for a thorough inquiry to determine what caused the crash and how to avoid it happening again.
“The awful MI-171 helicopter crash in Niger State near Chukuba Village while on a mission to evacuate casualties has left me feeling really sad.
“The dreadful degree of insecurity in most of the nation has continued to make us look bad, cost us priceless lives and assets, and result in associated economic expenses. The families of the brave servicemen who perished in that catastrophe have my sympathy.
“I genuinely mourn with the Nigerian Air Force over this tragic tragedy and urge them and other security services to not be disheartened by the difficulties but to see them as our route to establishing a safe and secure nation.
In order to stop similar incidents in the future, I would also like to strongly recommend doing a thorough investigation to determine what caused the disaster.
“We won’t ever give up on our country. Our greatest heritage, for which all of our sacrifices are honourable deeds, he remarked.
