Police launch an investigation after students protest.

On Thursday morning, thugs who are thought to be armed robbers broke into a women’s dorm at Rivers State University in Port Harcourt and stole valuables like cash, cell phones, and jewellery.
Many female students stay in hostels “D” and “C,” which are close to the school’s back gate. At around 1:45 am, these hostels were raided, and some of the students were allegedly sexually assaulted.
“About four female students were injured,” a student who spoke to our correspondent on the phone said. They (the hoodlums) were armed with machetes and firearms.
The operation lasted for roughly 45 minutes, during which time the girls’ (students’) valuables included phones, cash, and other items.
Following the incident, students protested at around 8 am over what they perceive to be inadequate security.
The school’s management immediately closed its two entrances to stop the riotous situation from getting worse.
Anele Miracle, the president of the students’ union government, was unable to be reached because he did not respond to multiple calls placed to his phone. On a second attempt, a voice on the other end of the queue, however, said that Mr Anele was in a meeting with the school’s chief security officer.
When contacted, Grace Iringe-Koko, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident but insisted that no student had been sexually assaulted.
She said, “I’m aware of the incident, and the investigation is still ongoing. The Divisional Police Officer has dispatched his team to the school as we speak, and after meeting with the school’s chief security officer, order has been restored.
Iringe-Koko was accused of being raped, and a police superintendent responded, “It is not true. All they took were their phones.
