As part of its mass wedding program, Kano Hisbah (Sharia police) revealed on Wednesday that it had acquired furniture, food, and clothes supplies for 1,800 intended spouses.
Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the commander-general of the Kano State Hisbah board, made the revelation while reviewing the items that had been purchased for the large wedding. He claimed that the state government had set aside more than 800 million naira for the purchase of furniture, clothing, food, and other items, including the bride’s price, among others.
He said that each bride will get a bed set, bedding, and 20,000 yen to help launch a business.
Aminu also revealed that wealthy people and benefactors have promised to make contributions to the success of the anticipated mass wedding.
Aminu pointed out that at least 1,800 couples are anticipated to profit from the thoughtful act, which he feels will solve the social vices and poverty that plague the nation.
He added that because parents couldn’t afford to pay for the wedding, many marriages were frequently postponed.
However, he pledged to inform all parties involved as soon as arrangements were complete of the date and location of the mass wedding, and he also appealed to benefactors to help achieve the necessary goals.
The commander-general also mentioned the criteria that had been set up for choosing the recipients, warning that anyone found guilty of divorcing his wife following the mass wedding would have to pay for the free gifts he had received from the state government.
He urged wealthier people to support the state government by helping the less fortunate in society tie the knot in a trouble-free mass wedding in order to promote peaceful coexistence.
