A group in Benue called the “Tombo Coalition” has voiced extreme dissatisfaction with the way that the state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, changed the rotational concept within its near vicinity.
This was mentioned in a statement released and made accessible to newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday by the group’s leader, Elder Saawuan Tyokyaa.
Tyokyaa observed that a pattern of alternating political appointments had existed since the current political regime, but that the governor Alia administration at the time had carelessly abandoned it.According to him, an unbreakable pattern has maintained since the advent of democratic governance in 1999: Commissioners from the Tombo clan have only ever been chosen from the Mbaakyaa and Mbakyongo council wards.
“Standing as a forceful voice against the governor’s current wrongdoings, the Tombo Coalition resolutely challenges these past injustices.
“His broken promises and biased decisions have betrayed the Tombo people, who had once trusted in his leadership. By using his pen, Governor Alia has disregarded the APC’s long-held commitment to the ideals of equity and fairness.

“Equity, justice, and the honor of following party agreements—the fundamental pillars on which our great party, the APC, stands—have been ruthlessly undermined.
According to Tyokyaa, the Tombo people of the state’s Buruku local government region protested the governor’s decision to not appoint one of their sons, Dr. Kaalu Akerkpev, as Commissioner after initially nominating him.
“Governor Alia has summarily rejected this appointment, an unmistakable entitlement, dealing a painful blow to party principles and displaying a striking disregard for the painstakingly balanced distribution of roles.”
Remember that on Tuesday, Governor Alia swore in 17 Commissioners and 23 Special Advisers.
