Reactions as UAE lifts visa ban on Nigerians after Tinubu’s intervention

Nigerians have reacted on social media as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) relaxes its almost one-year-old visa restriction on Nigerian travellers.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, this follows a historic agreement reached between President Bola Tinubu and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Monday.

According to the terms agreed upon by the two heads of state, the Nigerian government is not required to make any immediate payments in order for flight activity to resume immediately through these two carriers and between the two nations.
Ngelale stated that in acknowledgement of President Tinubu’s diplomatic efforts for economic development and the ideas he made to his colleague, both countries had formed an agreed-upon framework.

In response, many Nigerians praised Tinubu for the significant accomplishment while others voiced scepticism.
Ask what he offered them in exchange before you clap, @9jawoman said. “Kontinu, you as a citizen have probably been auctioned off in exchange, and you are here clapping.”

If he keeps going at this rate, President Tinubu will eventually prove to be the best president ever, according to @Esquire207.

He is still not my president, and I will never fly on their airlines or visit Dubai during his eight years in government.

“It is highly commendable that President Tinubu was able to get the visa ban the UAE imposed on Nigeria’s passport lifted,” commented @renoomokri. It has been eight years since Nigeria has had this kind of leadership, which Waziri Atiku Abubakar would likewise have delivered to the country.

Now that he has done so, I implore the President to dispatch his foreign minister to Ethiopia and the Seychelles in order to convince them to lift their respective prohibitions on Nigerian passports.

“Congratulations, Nigeria, and a special thank you to the President for resolving the diplomatic issue,” commented @justkency. He accomplished two goals at once.
“The man we voted for is doing the work that will benefit Nigerians,” commented @bummiearo.

“If there is one thing Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has shown, it is that he cares,” @Omojuwa remarked. And without compassion, there can be no leadership. He has a sincere concern for these problems. The UAE wasn’t in his line of responsibility, but he recognised an opening and seized it like the wise leader he is. That’s a significant addition to the opportunities worth billions of dollars previously investigated in India.

“Impressive work rate from Mr. President,” tweeted @EngrOla34. A significant victory for the nation. Nigeria will succeed with patience and perseverance; may God bless her.

“How does this help the typical Nigerian?” @drackfel asked. How can this alleviate the misery brought on by the removal of subsidies?

“Thank you, Mr. President,” wrote @masonsokun4real. You will be able to accomplish this even with very little warning to the President of the UAE.
