Tribunal declares Lalong winner of Plateau South senatorial poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senator Simon Lalong has been recognised as the validly elected senator to represent the Plateau South senatorial district of the State in the elections held on February 25 by the National/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, which is based in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

Napoleon Bali of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received wasted votes in the general election of February 25, 2023, according to the Tribunal, as his political party had improperly nominated him.
The PDP lacked a legitimate organisation in the State at the time of the nomination, it was said.

Immediately preceding governor of the State Lalong, it has been reported, is currently the Minister of Labour and Employment.
