Police officers, soldiers, and Department of State Service employees assaulted a camp in Eke-agbebor Isu in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State that was allegedly home to the banned Indigenous People of Biafra.

SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the police public relations officer for the state command, said this in a news release on Thursday in Abakaliki.

The squad also demolished a shrine at the IPOB camp, according to Onovwakpoyeya.

“On September 13, acting on reliable and actionable intelligence, tactical team members of the Command attacked an IPOB/ESN camp at Eke-agbebor Isu in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi state in a joint operation with the military and the DSS.

“One IPOB/ESN member was shot and killed, while others managed to flee with gunshot wounds of varying severity.

But two more people were taken into custody. These are Paul Ani’m’, aka Osah, 38, and Emmanuel Chinedu’m’, aka Patho, 26, according to the PPRO.

Another development, according to Onovwakpoyeya, was the arrest of another IPOB member on September 14 by Agba community inhabitants in the state’s Ishielu local government area.

According to her, the culprit was apprehended as he attempted to depart the neighborhood and was then turned over to the police.

She said, “The Commissioner of Police is utilizing this opportunity to urge to all hospitals, traditional medicine houses, pharmacies, and all inhabitants of Ebonyi to report anyone seeking medical assistance with bullet wound injuries to the nearest police station.”
