Tribunal: Comprehensive List of LP House of Reps Members INEC to conduct fresh Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was mandated to hold new elections in the concerned seats after the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal had dismissed several House of Representatives members.
The Labour Party, Nigeria’s second opposition party, which managed to win the House of Representatives and Senate, has suffered a significant defeat after the tribunal dismissed its members and invalidated its earlier election triumph. The members of the LP’s House of Representatives who will run in a new election held by INEC in the coming weeks and months are highlighted in this article by TheNigwrian News;

1. Mr. Ibe Okwara Osunwa (Abia state)

Ibe Okwara Osonwa, the House of Representatives candidate for the Abia state’s Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, is one whose election victory was annulled by the judiciary.
On Monday, September 11, Osonwa, the member elected on the Labour Party platform, appeared before the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State. In the rerun election, he will square off against Daniel Okeke, a member of the All Progressives Congress.

2. Munachim Alozie (of the state of Abia)

Munachim Alozie’s election as the representative for the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency in the state of Abia was invalidated by a tribunal chaired by Justice Hajaratu Hajjo Lawa. The federal legislator will take part in a new election run by INEC. In the meantime, in accordance with the constitution, the supplementary elections for the candidate ordered by the tribunal will be held within the next ninety days. In the runoff election, Ibe Michael Nwoke, a candidate for the Young Progressives Party, would face off against Alozie for his lost position.

3. Mr. Emeka Nnamani (Aba North and South)

Similar to this, the Abia state tribunal invalidated Mr. Emeka Nnamani’s election as the representative of the Aba North and South Federal Constituency due to certificate fraud.

The tribunal declared Alex Ikwueche, the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, as the winner of the election and instructed INEC to remove the certificate of return it had previously given to Nnamani and issue a fresh one to Ikwueche.

 

4. Thaddeus Atta of Eti-Osa

In the state of Lagos Honourable Achief Atta The parliamentary election petition tribunal in Lagos state is said to have dismissed Thaddeus, the member-elect for the House of Representatives from the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, and annulled his election victory. In the additional election, Bankole “Banky W” Wellington, Olajide Obanikoro, and Atta will square off.

5. Sunday Nnamchi,a professor from Enugu East

The Enugu State National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal declared the election victory of Professor Sunday Nnamchi, who represents Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, invalid. The dismissed lawmaker, Prof. Nnamchi, has asked his legal team to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeal.
