In Imo State, gunmen have killed no fewer than eight members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, including soldiers, police officers, and other security personnel.
The community of Umualumaku in the state’s Ehime Mbano Local Government Area is in a panic as a result of the tragedy that occurred on Tuesday morning.
Attackers ambushed and set fire to the joint security taskforce team, who were in two security trucks.
All of them perished because they were burned alive inside their functional automobiles.
A security guard who wished to remain unnamed told our correspondent that reinforcement squads had been dispatched to the crime scene with the goal of apprehending the perpetrators and recovering the bodies of the deceased security guard.
Several minutes before the security officers were set ablaze, according to a local citizen who asked to remain anonymous for reasons of security.
He claimed that as a result of the development, the neighborhood was in disarray.
A video recording of the attack, in which the security officers were set ablaze in the two vehicles, was seen by our correspondent.
Henry Okoye, the state police’s spokesperson, verified the news when he was approached but requested more time to get the entire details of the terrible tragedy.

The Delta State Task Committee on Drug Trafficking conducted a drug raid in the state’s Sapele Local Government Area, seizing seven suspected members of a drug gang.
Pastor Omasan Mabiaku, the governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Security, oversaw the raids, which were a part of a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in the state.
On Sunday, the task force reportedly attacked the locations in response to reliable intelligence. The drugs, which were valued millions of naira and included Tramadol, Codeine, and Cannabis, were found in the possession of four males and three women.
The NDLEA was given the suspects and evidence as a result for further investigation.
Pastor Mabiaku stated in a statement to journalists following his detention that the state’s authorities had charged him with eliminating drug dealers and people traffickers.
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for forming the group to confront the drug abuse and human trafficking scourge wreaking havoc on young people in the state. He also informed the populace that the committee will keep conducting raids on alleged drug abuse-related properties in other local governments.
He said, “We will make sure that everyone who is arrested is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Sapele Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Eugene Inoaghan, also commented on the arrest and praised the task force.
“Many of our youths are using hard drugs, which is shortening their future,” the council leader added.
“Parents, please speak with your kids. Nobody bringing drugs or selling them here will be tolerated.
