The ruling All Progressives Congress has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will emerge victorious as the Supreme Court takes up the challenges contesting his election victory today.
The Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party are contesting Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election held on February 25.
When the opposition parties first contested Tinubu’s victory, they were unsuccessful at the Presidential Election Petitions Court.
Both parties, along with their candidates, Peter Obi (LP) and Atiku Abubakar (PDP), were unhappy with the PEPC’s decision. They went to the Supreme Court, whose hearing is scheduled for today.
Prior to today’s session, APC Publicity Director Bala Ibrahim predicted that the opposition would fail once more on Sunday.
“We expect justice, and I know the justices of the Supreme Court are just,” he remarked. The cases will be evaluated based on merit. Therefore, we have hope that justice will be served, just as it was in the past (tribunal ruling).
We anticipate a just and equitable decision, nothing more. Whatever the situation, I have faith in Nigeria’s legal system. That justice will be served and that the victor or loser should accept the outcome in good faith so comforts me.
“However, the APC is certain that the Supreme Court will rule in a just manner as a party.”
However, the PDP expressed hope that Atiku will be declared the winner and Tinubu fired by the Supreme Court.
“Nigerians and indeed the whole world look forward to the Supreme Court for justice in the hope that the court will apply the laws, including the express provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022, and INEC Guidelines and Regulations in delivering substantial justice in the matter,” stated Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary for the PDP, in a statement on Sunday.
Nigerians and supporters of democracy everywhere fervently hope that the Supreme Court would utilize this case to firmly uphold the adage that the judiciary is the common man’s final hope.
As a result, Nigerians have hope that the Supreme Court would uphold the law and the facts of the case and grant considerable justice.
The Allied Peoples Movement, on the other hand, petitioned the Supreme Court to declare Tinubu’s election invalid due to the invalid nomination of his running partner.

The party claims that the President Ibrahim Masari’s placeholder nomination was not updated in the 14 days required by Section 33 of the Electoral Act.
The APM further stated that the tribunal erred in concluding that Tinubu and Kashim Shettima’s nomination and sponsorship were APC internal matters.
