President Bola Tinubu’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, said on Tuesday that effective international cooperation could be leveraged to combat terrorism.

He implied that there is an international component to the security crisis when he said that the victory in the struggle depends on the West African subregion.

This claim was made by the chief of staff at a speech titled “Empowering Nigerian Youths in the Present-Day Economy” at the Yaba College of Technology’s convocation address in Lagos.

“There is an often overlooked international element to our country’s myriad national security challenges,” Gbajabiamila stated.

“To address this, we need to work more closely with our partners in the region and internationally as well as our neighbors in West Africa. We need to share intelligence, track financial flows, and make sure that those who incite and commit acts of violence, no matter where they may be operating from, are held accountable for their crimes eventually.”The administration’s national security strategy, which aims to create a safer and more prosperous environment for everybody, depends on this cooperation.

Addressing the current challenges relating to national security is a major priority, according to Gbajabiamila, in an effort to make Nigeria a desirable destination for the investments necessary to promote national development and empower the youth.

He lamented that conflict had made the country as a whole unsuited for lucrative commercial ventures and that instability had manifested itself in an alarmingly high rate of banditry.

“We know that capital is cowardly, and capital will not go anywhere that is unfriendly,” Gbajabiamila stated. We also understand that we cannot achieve our objectives of sustainable national economic growth as long as innovation and investment are focused in a small number of states or regions.
