The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received praise from Mr. Osita Chidoka, a former Minister of Aviation, for providing him with voter accreditation data for the Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi governorship elections on November 11.
Chidoka made this statement on his verified social media account, X, which was formerly known as Tweeter, in response to his use of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act to request the report from INEC.
The former Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Corps Marshal stated that INEC should be commended for the action.
“We have reached a major turning point in our pursuit of accountable and transparent governance today.”I am happy to tell that the INEC has fulfilled my request for Freedom of Information and sent me the BVAS report on voter accreditation for the most recent governorship elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo. I am also filled with gratitude and a sense of pride in our country.
This extraordinary level of compliance from INEC is proof of what can be accomplished with perseverance and the guts to take risks.

He said, “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to INEC for their dedication to upholding the values of accountability and transparency as well as our laws.”

Chidoka went on, “This act represents a hopeful beginning in our collective effort to guarantee that government agencies are accountable to the people they serve as well as the law.”
I’m happy to let Nigerians know that the BVAS report and a certificate that complies with section 84 of the Evidence Act (2011) have been received in tangible copy.
We’re still working to create a more open and democratic form of government, but this development marks a big step in the right direction.
