Despite the presence of security personnel, gunmen have been active in the country’s northwestern and north central regions.

Safiyanu Isa Andaha, the chairman of Nasarawa State’s Akwanga Local Government Area, has been abducted by armed individuals.

Along with a local, the victim was taken away on the evening of New Year’s Day in Ningo village along Andaha-Akwanga Road, according to police authorities.

In order to guarantee the victims’ release, security personnel from the police and other agencies have reportedly started tracking down the kidnappers as soon as possible, according to Police Public Relations Officer Ramhan Nansel.

Despite the presence of security personnel, gunmen have been active in the country’s northwestern and north central regions.

According to the authorities, the event on Monday occurred a few weeks after terrorists ambushed a convoy in Rivers, murdering four troops, two civilian drivers, and kidnapping two Korean workers.

Similar to Zamfara, bandits terrorise a number of states in northwest and central Nigeria, including Nasarawa. They raid villages, murder and kidnap people, and set fire to homes after robbing them of their valuables.

The gangs keep camps in a vast forest that crosses the states of Niger, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kaduna.

Numerous security issues confronting the nation include a 14-year-old Islamist insurgency in the northeast that has resulted in at least 40,000 fatalities and caused over two million more to escape their homes.
