Nasarawa CP orders investigation of four people killed in supermarket attack

The attack on a supermarket in One Man Village, close to Mararaba in the Karu Local Government Area of the state, has prompted the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigative Department in Lafia to launch an investigation, per the directive of Umar Nadada, the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State.

Four armed men are reported to have assaulted the supermarket, killing four customers.

The event was said to have occurred on Tuesday at approximately 8:45 p.m.

A speaker was heard stating that one of the deceased had an identity card issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria in the video that our correspondent was able to collect right after the tragedy.

Ramhan Nansel, a spokesman for the Nasarawa police, verified the occurrence when reached.

He mentioned that four people had died in the incident and added that the Deputy Commissioner in charge of SCID had been instructed by the CP to look into the situation.

“I wish to confirm that some hoodlums numbering four attacked the Wisdom Supermarket at Adehi, Karu Local Government Area on January 2, 2024, shooting sporadically,” Nasel stated. Four people were found after the armed guys opened fire on the patrons; upon arrival at the hospital, the medical staff pronounced them dead.

“The Maraba Medical Center is now home to their bodies. The State Criminal Investigative Department’s deputy commissioner of police in Lafia has been instructed by the commissioner of police to respond to the scene and conduct a thorough inquiry into the case. The investigation’s conclusion will be disclosed.
