Abisoye Coker-Odusote, the director general of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), has issued a warning, stating that any Front End, Enrollment, Partners, or FEP found to be involved in unethical behavior will not be spared and that they must act as good representatives of the commission.
At a workshop for recently revalidated Front End Partners in Abuja, Coker-Odusote issued the warning and reminded Nigerians that NIN enrollment is free of charge nationwide.
The participants were reassured by Ayodele Babalola, the Technical Adviser on Media & Communications to the DG, NIMC, that the purpose of the revalidation was to sanitize the national identity enrolment process. Additionally, invoices regarding outstanding debts to FEPs that her administration inherited were audited.
“When we took office, we saw numerous violations and unhealthy procedures in the NIN enrollment and modification services.
After an investigation, some of our front-end partners were responsible for the majority of the infraction reports.
“I’m not saying that all NIMC employees are innocent, but as you may know, I’ve conducted sting operations at several of our offices, and some employees were caught red-handed engaging in inappropriate behavior.
“I didn’t choose to order the revalidation of any FEPs in order to target any particular person or group. It was a step toward maintaining the integrity of the data in the nation’s identity database and cleaning up the system and procedures. One of the actions taken to guarantee that the FEPs were adhering to the strictest data security standards was the revalidation exercise.
“Let me take this opportunity to remind everyone that NIN enrollment in Nigeria is completely free. Corruption is not tolerated at all by my administration. Therefore, we won’t spare anyone caught engaging in unethical behavior or committing any other kind of violation,” she continued.
