On Tuesday, there was a small drama when Senator Suleiman Kawu (NNPP, Kano South) raised a point of order, denouncing what he considered to be Mansur Kuliya, the Executive Director of the Midstream, Downstream, Gas Infrastructure Fund, being removed too soon.
The lawmaker from Kano South claimed that Kuliya was not given the opportunity to serve out his entire five-year term, which started in 2022, and that therefore, his removal as the agency’s Executive Director was illegal.

As per his statement, his stance was prompted by a letter that President Bola Tinubu had sent, which was read aloud by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary session. The letter asked the Senate to promptly validate the dismissal of Babatunde Irukera, the Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and to confirm Oluwole Andama as the Executive Director of the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund in the Nigerian Midstream, Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
