On Tuesday, a criminal prosecution regarding alleged N21.5 billion money laundering against former Chief of Air Staff Adesola Amosu and two others was dismissed by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

According to reports, the defendants were re-arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an updated 13-count allegation that involved potential money laundering of N21.5 billion.

On Tuesday, Justice Aneke upheld the defense attorney’s preliminary objection, which questioned the court’s authority to hear the case because the defendants were active military officials at the time.

It had contended that as the defendants were still officers at the time, they could only be tried by a court martial.
