Troops of Operation Delta Sanity have deactivated 41 unlawful refining websites and impounded stolen crude oil and different merchandise valued at N8.6 billion in three weeks.
The Director of Naval Info, Rear Adm. Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, made this disclosure in a press release on Wednesday in Abuja.
Ayo-Vaughan mentioned numerous Nigerian Navy platforms have been deployed for the operation meant to fight oil theft and unlawful oil bunkering plaguing Nigeria’s maritime atmosphere.
In line with him, between February 5 and February 22, a complete of 51 picket boats and three fibre ones have been apprehended, whereas 104 unlawful refining ovens, 85 reservoirs and 288 dugout pits have been destroyed.
He mentioned roughly 60,815.77 barrels of crude oil, price N8.1 billion, 557,580 litres of gasoline price N497.4 million and N5.5 million price of kerosene valued at N5.5 million, have been recovered.
“Cumulatively the sum of N8.6 billion that would have been used to perpetrate acts inimical to nationwide safety and prosperity was denied the oil thieves,” he added.
The navy spokesman mentioned the Ahead Operation Base, FOB, FORMOSO in Bayelsa, on Feb. 19, performed operations round Brass River, Akassa, Lagosgbene, Tebidaba and Oyeregbene common space.
Ayo-Vaughan added that the group found unlawful refining website and two picket boats laden
with 62.9 barrels (10,000 litres) of product suspected to be stolen crude oil through the operation.
In line with him, the location was dismantled whereas the boats and merchandise have been towed to a secure location and dealt with appropriately.
“Relatedly, on February 19, FOB ESCRAVOS performed anti-crude oil theft operations round Aghor-Kutu Group in Warri Southern Native Authorities Space of Delta.
“Through the operations, the group found one IRS, three ovens, one reservoir, one pumping machine, 10 jerricans and 38 drums laden with 195.9 barrels (31,150 litres) of product suspected to be stolen crude oil.
“Accordingly, the Unlawful Refining Website was dismantled whereas the merchandise have been towed to secure location and dealt with appropriately.
“Equally, NN Ship PATHFINDER, performed operations round Abuloma, Abonnema, Woji, and Taraba jetty in Borikiri, Rivers between Feb. 20 and Feb. 22 amd raided a automotive wash used for storing illegally refined merchandise.
“The group found one IRS, seven ovens, 60 drums and two reservoirs laden with about 120,000 litres of product suspected to be illegally refined gasoline,” he mentioned.
