The Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps Commandant-Normal, Ahmed Audi, has directed his men to respect the human rights of all law-abiding Nigerians, stating that gun vans are often not purchased to shoot at civilians but only at prison areas.

The NSCDC Federal Capital Territory Command’s commissioning of three recently acquired gun vans and the revelation of the command’s Particular Tactical Squad were both instructed by the CG on Thursday.

Audi is well-known for having acquired gun vans because of the ongoing crises in Nigeria, which need for tough solutions.

“As everyone knows, Nigeria is going through an uneven battle that calls for a tough resolution,” he said. One of the tactical approaches and solutions to this present issue is the commissioning of those gun vans.

Audi cautioned police against using the gun vans to threaten or harass bystanders, stating that every Nigerian has the right to be treated with respect.

“Using these gun vans to harass or threaten civilians is not appropriate. Molestation is not required to be done with them. You must uphold fundamental human rights. These gun vans should only be utilized by those who have deprived Nigerians of sleep. All of these instructions must be followed in cooperation with sibling companies.

Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the FCT Command, expressed gratitude to Dr. Audi for helping the command out with the gun vans and for making it easier for the squad to be coached and retrained over the previous eight weeks.

The tactical team “will probably be strategically positioned throughout the territory to rid it of criminals,” according to Odumosu, who stated that the command is now well-equipped to sort out crimes and criminality within the Federal Capital Territory.

“As instructed, we will take all necessary steps to remove prison components from the FCT.”

But the commandant pleaded with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to provide the command with additional equipment and tools so they could carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Odumosu made a plea, saying, “It may interest you to know that the FCT command needs additional operating cars, motorcycles, communication devices, protective gear, and other very critical gear to correctly and successfully work in order for the corps to be correctly positioned for improved service supply.

“The above requests were necessary to ensure the effective protection of various suburbs within the six Space Councils.”

In addition, he asked that relevant FCT Administration departments rebuild and reopen the command’s services.

The Director of the Division of Safety Companies, FCTA, Adamu Gwari, urged the team to perform to the best of their abilities while pledging support for the command on behalf of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

“Wike is always able to assist our safety companies for optimal efficiency,” he said. Use this equipment with equal diligence, members of the expert squad, and do your part to keep the area safe and secure. The location where inhabitants will sleep with their eyes closed is something we need to see as a result of your efforts. Protect the FCT’s essential infrastructure against vandals.
