Vandalize govt, communal property risk jail – Abia Deputy Governor warns youths

Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, has warned youths in Ohafia or some other a part of the State who specialise in vandalism and theft of presidency and communal properties to desist from the ugly enterprise or spend years in jail.

The Deputy Governor gave the warning throughout an interactive session with the youths and indigenes of Okon-Aku group in Ohafia over the latest incident of vandalism at Japanese Area Property Funding ( EREI) the place processing mills and tanks have been dismantled for unlawful sale.

The palm oil plantation was established in 1961 by the Japanese Area Property Funding, EREI, through the regime of Dr. Michael Okpara, because the premier of the defunct Japanese area.

Addressing the youths of Okon on the matter, Emetu lamented that it was not solely shameful however disgusting for a group chief to allegedly mastermind the vandalism and sale of presidency and group property for a peanut.

Emetu disclosed that preparations have been already in prime gear by the Governor Alex Otti administration to revamp the oil settlement to create employment for the youths and generate income for the State.

Talking to newsmen, a former President Basic of Okon Growth Union, Ndukwe Iko expressed disappointment over the event.

He suggested anybody who conceived such an concept to vandalize, loot and promote authorities property to desist forthwith.
