One of many contenders for the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship ticket in Ondo State, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has stated that the ruling occasion should throw open its ticket for the ballot.
He spoke forward of the APC major for the November 16, 2024, Ondo State Governorship Election.
Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South Senatorial District within the Nationwide Meeting, stated he isn’t afraid of Governor Fortunate Aiyedatiwa, who declared his governorship bid on Tuesday.
The lawmaker was on Channels Tv’s Politics Right now programme.
Requested whether or not Aiyedatiwa ought to be given an opportunity of first refusal, Ibrahim stated, “What are you refusing? Was Asiwaju given an opportunity of first refusal? What’s democracy? It’s democratisation.
“If you’re competent and you’ve got your technique, why are you afraid of competitors? Go to the sector. If you’re elected, so be it.”
Requested whether or not he’s afraid of the incumbent governor, the lawmaker stated, “How can I be afraid of Aiyedatiwa? With my Harvard technique? My Harvard data, how can I be afraid of Aiyedatiwa?
“Go and ask about me from (ex-governor Olusegun) Mimiko. Go and ask about me within the final PDP election in Ondo. Go and ask about how Akeredolu bought his first time period in Ondo, who was behind it when it comes to mobilising and creating social consciousness.”
Aiyedatiwa, then Ondo deputy governor, succeeded Akeredolu after the latter’s demise on December 27, 2023.
Aiyedatiwa, who declared his governorship bid on Tuesday, stated it was the want of the late Akeredolu that he (Aiyedatiwa) succeeded him because the governor of the state.
