Ondo Guber: Observe party primaries, strengthen advocacy on inclusivity – INEC tells CSOs

Forward of the Ondo State governorship main election scheduled to begin within the subsequent two weeks, the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee, INEC, has urged Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, to interact with political events and observe their primaries.

This, the electoral physique mentioned, would strengthen their advocacy for inclusivity for teams corresponding to ladies, youths and Individuals with Disabilities, PwDs, which are under-represented in elective workplaces on the Nationwide and State degree.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, acknowledged this on Wednesday on the first quarterly consultative assembly with CSOs.

His phrases: “Turning to Ondo State, Political Events will begin their primaries for the Governorship election within the subsequent two weeks.

“Sixteen political events have indicated curiosity in taking part within the election. I urge Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to interact with Political Events and observe their primaries simply as you have interaction with INEC and deploy observers to the primary election carried out by the Fee.

“By doing so, you’ll strengthen your advocacy for inclusivity for teams corresponding to ladies, youths and Individuals with Incapacity (PwD) which are under-represented in elective workplaces at Nationwide and State degree.”
