Niger Tornadoes yesterday came from behind to defeat Shooting Stars 2-1 in the final fixture of matchday 27 of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

It was a dominant display from the home side from the kick-off with Clinton Jephta being the tormentor-in-chief for the visitors.

However, they fell behind to a 37th-minute strike from Christian Pyagbara to temporarily halt the waves of attacks as the first half ended 1-0. Incidentally, this was Christian’s first goal of the season for the ‘Ikon Allah Boys’.

At the restart of the second half, the hosts turned on the heat on their visitors and they were duly rewarded after Clinton Jephta levelled the scoreline in the 75th minute.

Buoyed by the goal, they continued mounting pressure on the Shooting Stars as they bided to get the maximum points.

Inside the three added minutes, precisely in the 92nd minute, Ikenna Okafor scored a stunner to Shooting Stars six matches unbeaten run in the league. The ‘Oluyole Warriors’ last tasted defeat in February.

Following this win, Niger Tornadoes have moved to 14th position on the table with 33 points while Shooting Stars remain 8th with 40 points.
