Redouble effort in fixing economy, ex-lawmaker urges Tinubu

A former federal lawmaker and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Farah Dagogo, has called on President Bola Tinubu to redouble efforts to fix the nation’s economy to cushion the prevailing hardship.

Dagogo made the call in a statement issued by his media aide, Ibrahim Lawal, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Thursday.

He also urged other heads of government at all levels to do the same to better the lots of their people and alleviate their sufferings, saying if that is done, they would be assisting the President.

Dagogo admitted that though there is no denying the fact that the country is going through tough times, the difficulties and challenges would not spell doom if the right policies were pursued.

“Our country is at a crossroads. There is no gain denying the obvious fact that the country is at its lowest ebb. But it is not all doom if the fight policies are pursued and implemented.

“As an incorrigible and infinite believer that Nigeria can and will truly prosper, I therefore urge us all to take advantage of this solemn period and appeal for continued prayers for the country and its people.

“It is also now very incumbent upon leaders at all levels, including President Bola Tinubu to redouble their efforts in not only bettering the economy and development of the country but in ensuring that right policies with human face are escalated to ameliorate sufferings being witnessed across all nooks and crannies of the country.

“Let us also use this period to remember, commiserate with loved ones, and pray for the repose of the souls of civilians and security personnel who were caught in the crossfire of insecurity that is ravaging our country,” he said.

On Easter celebration, Dagogo urged all leaders in positions of authority in the country to emulate invaluable lessons and sacrifices as espoused by the teachings and death of Jesus Christ and be ready to inconvenience themselves to better the lives of the citizenry.

He reminded Christians of their firm responsibilities to follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ by promoting peace, love, tolerance, and togetherness.

“This Holy and blessed period of Easter should not be limited to its merriment alone but viewed and taken as an avenue for sober reflection; time for us all to join hands together, irrespective of religious or political affiliation, and pray for God’s positive intervention in the affairs of our dear nation,” he added.
