The Ogun Area II Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bisi Alade, has sought the support of traditional rulers in the state in fighting smuggling activities and those saboteuring the economy of the nation.

Alade has also described the Nigeria Police as a dependable partner that has always joined forces with the Nigeria Customs to fight criminalities in the country.

He, therefore, pleaded with the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, to help sustain the tempo of collaborative efforts that could always help to strengthen the security architecture of the country.

The customs boss, according to the statement on Sunday, spoke during his separate visits to the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo; and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu.

Alade, while speaking during his visit to the traditional ruler, said, “The Nigeria Customs recognises the importance of our royal fathers. They are the closest to the people and quite instrumental to ensuring peace and security across the state.

“Our visit here is to seek the support of our royal fathers in our renewed commitment to do our jobs as outlined by the law. We certainly need the co-operation of the traditional rulers, and we hope that the synergy that has long been created will be sustained for the betterment and prosperity of our nation.”

Responding, Oba Gbadebo said other traditional rulers across the state will always be ready to support all agencies of the government that have been constitutionally empowered to play vital roles towards enhancing the socio-economic development of the country.

The state commissioner of police, Alamutu, also pledged the support of the police command to the new Customs boss, saying that the Controller can always count on the established cooperation between the two security agencies to stamp out all forms of illegalities from the state.
