Hoodlums in the wee hours of Friday blocked Kuta Road in Minna, the Niger State capital, attacking people going for Tahajud prayers.
Residents told our correspondent that the incident happened around 1am when they were coming out to offer Tahajud prayers.
One of the residents, Aliyu Isah, said hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons have been openly holding residents hostage in Minna for the past five days.
He said areas they mostly operate include Kpakungu, Soje, Anguwan Daji, Limawa, Ogbomosho among others.
When contacted, the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said police were on top of the situation.
He said, “Police patrol teams have always been responding to the issue, and arrests were being made at every location of the scene.”
