The Ovie of Umiaghwa Abraka Kingdom in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Lucky Ararile, has called on President Bola Tinubu to order the military stationed in the troubled Okuama community to vacate the area.

This is just as he described the killing of 17 military personnel on peace mission to the community as “an unfortunate situation, regrettable and condemnable.”

This was contained in the monarch’s address on Saturday during a thanksgiving service in commemoration of his 12 years on the throne.held at the First Baptist Church, Oria.

The traditional ruler said, “The way the soldiers were killed was not in tandem with the culture of Urhobo and other ethnic groups in the Niger Delta.

“No ethnic group in the Niger Delta has it as a culture to desecrate the bodies of the dead.

“We don’t chop off people’s heads, remove their hearts, or dismember them.

“Nevertheless, residents need to return back and try to get their lives back and start rebuilding.

“The destruction that was carried out in Okuama after the murder of the military men was regrettable too.”

Speaking further, the monarch stated that “in order to avoid such incidents, security operatives must stick to their roles.”

He noted with concern that “in Nigeria, the Army does the job of the police, the NSCDC does the job of everyone else.

“The only jobs that others cannot do is that of the Air Force because they cannot fly planes.”

The traditional ruler also spoke on Tinubu’s performance so far, submitting that “the President is on track.”

He said, “The President did well by setting up a powerful economic team. This means that he has his hands on the table, knows the problems, and has good ideas to deal with issues.”

The monarch urged Nigerians to be patient with the President and support the Federal Government in its ongoing efforts to make Nigeria a better place.
