The Sokoto state government has responded to the claim made by the former Governor of the state, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was robbed of victory during the last Governorship election.
Tambuwal made the claim during the distribution of Ramadan palliatives to members of the party at his Sokoto’s residence.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Information, Bello Sambo Danchadi, wondered how the party that won only five out of the 23 local government areas of the state claimed victory.
According to him, Senator’s Tambuwal claim amounted to a desecration of the Holy month.
“I.am sure that even his PDP audience at the venue were not amused by this very crude joke,” he said.
“We in the government of the state and indeed all men of good judgement had expected that former Governor Tambuwal would swallow his pride and commend the achievements of his successor in the area of security.
“It is evident from the reduction in the number of incidents of banditry and the many successful rescue operations by security agencies. This is a complete departure from what obtained under the previous administration of PDP because the general attitude of the then government was that of complete denial and shifting blames,.
He, however, advised Tambuwal to open his eyes to the political reality in Sokoto “because the wounds inflicted on our people were still fresh and would take decades to heal”.
