There were fears on Thursday over the health of a former governor of Abia State and former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu.
There were reports suggesting that he died in a hospital in Abuja at the age of 72.
BBC quoted a senior member of the All Progressives Congress who wanted to remain anonymous as confirming his death.
“It is true that Mr. Ogbonnaya Onu is dead, but it is up to his family to speak about it,” the source was quoted as saying.
The family is yet to release a statement at the time of publication.
