Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Kingsley Ononogbu, has attributed disunity among the major stakeholders to the abysmal performance of the party in the last general elections held in the state.
Speaking on Friday, while addressing a meeting of local government and ward executive committee members of the APC in the state, Ononogbu reminded members that the party cannot achieve victory in elections under atmosphere of rancour.
He disclosed that Abia APC under his leadership is working on a template that would bring all warring factions together until congresses are conducted, where members would make their choices and unite in the interest of the party.
The chairman urged warring factions in the state chapter of the party to jettison individual differences and unite towards ensuring APC secure majority of elective seats in Abia State in subsequent elections.
Ononogbu said: “Most of our foot soldiers are the cause of the problems, they go round spreading rumours, they meet us separately and tell us rumours that will pitch us against one another.
“These quarrels have not gotten us anywhere. We have to unite so we don’t lose again.”
According to report crisis engulfed the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress following the outcome of the parallel gubernatorial primary elections held in the state by the national leadership of the party.
