The Adamawa State Government on Friday confirmed that 42 people have died due to outbreak of measles in Mubi and Gombi local government areas of the state.
The Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwame gave the figure to newsmen shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Yola.
The commissioner said the measles outbreak affected eight wards in Mubi and seven wards in Gombi local government areas, with a death toll of 42 out of 131 and 177 affected persons, respectively, in the two LGAs.
He assured that steps had been taken to prevent any further spread of the outbreak.
Tangwame said upon receiving the report of the outbreak, the Ministry had responded swiftly and had been able to manage the situation.
According to him, the government and its partners are on top of the development.
