Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman is now the player with the most goals in Europe’s top five leagues in 2023.
The wide attacker scored five goals in three matches for Atalanta in Serie A this January, banging a brace twice.
Lookman netted his fifth league of the month in Atalanta’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria at Gewiss Stadium on Saturday.
The former England youth player doubled the lead for the hosts with a long-range effort in the 57th minute, after Joakim Mæhle put them in front earlier in the first half.
With the goal, Lookman is now just a goal short of his compatriot, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen on the scoring chart.
He is also the top scorer in Europe in 2023, ahead of Osimhen, Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland, Argentina’s Laurato Martinez, and Frenchman Wissam Ben Yedder who have four goals each.
The winger has now scored more goals for Atalanta this season (14) than he has managed in his previous four seasons combined.
