The African Union Commission (AUC) has invited Nigeria and South Africa to bid for the hosting rights of the next two editions of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), a prestigious annual event celebrating African music and culture. The AU sees AFRIMA as a strategic platform for promoting African music and social integration in line with its Agenda 2063, the Charter for African Cultural Renaissance, and the AU Plan for Action on Cultural and Creative Industry.

Ambassador Minata Samate Cessouma, AUC’s Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, emphasised that hosting AFRIMA offers substantial benefits, including increased global visibility, enhanced tourism, economic growth and cultural exchange.

Acting Director for Social Development, Culture and Sports at the AUC, Angela Martins, stated that AFRIMA provides a unique opportunity for the host country to showcase its cultural heritage and stimulate economic growth.

She encouraged both Nigeria and South Africa to submit their bids, highlighting the AU’s support and commitment to ensuring a successful event that fosters intra-African collaboration and global exposure for African artists.
