The previous Chief Press Secretary to late ex-Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Richard Olatunde on Wednesday cautioned Governor Fortunate Aiyedatiwa in opposition to leveraging the late governor’s title for political benefit.
Olatunde emphasised that each Akeredolu’s household and his loyal supporters throughout the state have strongly opposed Aiyedatiwa’s alleged misleading methods geared toward gaining a political edge inside the occasion.
Aiyedatiwa had throughout his official declaration to run for governor, said that his late boss had given him his blessing and expressed a want for him to achieve workplace.
In accordance with Olatunde, there existed a strained relationship between Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa up till the previous’s passing.
He added that the late former governor was shocked by what he perceived as a betrayal by Aiyedatiwa, leaving a bitter notice of their relationship.
“Whereas we acknowledge that the political ambiance within the state is intensifying, we wish to unequivocally state that the late Governor didn’t anoint or specific a want for Aiyedatiwa to succeed him.
“Quite the opposite, the connection between the late governor and Governor Aiyedatiwa turned strained and distant till his passing.
“Regardless of attending to official issues and assembly folks from Akure, the late Governor deliberately stored Mr Aiyedatiwa, who was the Deputy governor on the time, away from him in Ibadan.
“Our late Governor was deeply dissatisfied and regretful of sure behaviours and character traits displayed by Aiyedatiwa throughout his well being challenges, which in the end led to his passing.”
