Amotekun nabs three suspected motorcycle thieves in Ekiti

To ensure a crime-free Yuletide, the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has announced a series of suspect arrests in various parts of the state.

The Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Olu Adewa (retd.), who noted that Amotekun was working around the clock to ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state, said, “The corps is unrelenting in the bid to bring down crime to the barest minimal in the state”.

He spoke in Ado Ekiti on Monday in a statement titled, ‘Suspects arrested for series of crimes in Ekiti’ by the corps Head of Communications Department, Adeleye Adewale.

Adewa stated that Amotekun operatives had arrested a 22-year-old man, Sunday Ojo, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number FU481H at Tosa Street in Odooro in Ekiti East Local Government area.

He stated that Amotekun operatives in the Efon Local Government area also, on December 22, nabbed two suspects, 20-year-old Emmanuel Eriba and 30-year-old John Ogbam, for conspiracy and theft.

The Amotekun commander stated, “The two suspects are residents of Efon Alaaye but hail from Benue State. Information revealed that they were apprehended for the alleged stealing of some yam tubers and a TVS motorcycle, owned by one Mr Ajewole Segun at his farm.

“Upon interrogation by the officers, the two suspects confessed to the crime, saying they colluded and conspired against the complainant.

“All the suspects, alongside the exhibits recovered from them, have since been handed over to the police in the different divisions for further investigation and prosecution,” the Amotekun commander said.
