The fabrication and sale of caskets in Anambra State is prohibited by state law, according to the government of the state.
The legislation governing burial and funeral practices in the state, which was approved by the House of Assembly on Thursday, included this.
This law requires all mortuary attendants to report any corpse that has been there for more than a month to the Ministry of Health.
Any individual who disobeys the rules faces a fine of N100,000, up to six months in jail, or both.
It also stated that the town union of the deceased must be notified of all funerals and burials for indigenous people who have passed away in the state.

The recently enacted legislation also forbade closing streets and roads in the middle of funeral rites.
It was advised that doing this would require authorization from the relevant local government body.
In response, state governor Chukwuma Soludo thanked the assembly for the legislation in a brief statement on Friday.
The speaker declared, “The Anambra Burial Law is a very progressive law that liberates women from oppressive burial practices and relieves the burden and pressure on the poor.”
“Only a respectable funeral is something we celebrateābefitting living.”
