The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed deep shock and devastation over the tragic incident in Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State.
He extended his deepest condolences to the government and people of the state following the fire explosion from a fuel tanker, which claimed over 140 lives.
Ganduje expressed his deepest sorrow over the tragic incident in a press statement.
He stated, “I’m deeply saddened to learn about the devastating tanker explosion in Jigawa State, which claimed over 150 precious lives and left many others with severe injuries.”
The death toll of the petrol tanker explosion on Wednesday rose to 147.
The Chairman of Taura LGA, Shu’aibu Hambali, confirmed the latest causality figure on Wednesday evening while speaking live on a local radio station, Arewa Radio.
Meanwhile, mass burials have been held for the 147 victims who died while scooping fuel from the tanker wreckage.
The APC national chairman further expressed his grief, extending his condolences to the victims, their families, and the entire people of Jigawa State.
“This tragedy is a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of prioritising safety in our daily lives. I pray that the Almighty Allah grants the deceased eternal rest and comforts their loved ones during this moment of grief.”
The National Chairman emphasised that the APC stands united with the government and people of Jigawa State during this challenging period, offering unwavering support.
“We understand the gravity of this incident and its impact on the community.
“As a party, we are committed to supporting the relief efforts and ensuring that those affected receive the necessary assistance.
“We urge all Nigerians to join us in praying for the victims and their families,” he added.
Also, Ganduje commended the emergency responders and medical personnel for their tireless efforts, stating that their selfless service in aiding the injured is highly commendable.
“To the people of Jigawa State, I say that you are not alone in this moment of grief. We share your pain and loss, and we will stand by you as you rebuild and recover.”
Concluding, Ganduje urged the nation to use this incident as a reminder of the collective responsibility to prioritise safety and well-being.
Once again, he offered his deepest condolences, praying that Allah (SWT) bless Jigawa State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
