All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain Dr. Garus Haruna Gololo has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) to detain, investigate, and bring charges against all former ministers President Muhammadu Buhari has indicted.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Sunday, Gololo asked the security and anti-corruption agencies to pursue all former presidential aides, as they have been doing in the case of Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Recall that Sabiu Tunde “Yusuf,” a former advisor to President Buhari, was the source of the alleged clearance for the naira redesign, a claim made by Emmanuel Onwubiko, the national coordinator for HURIWA, who also denounced it.
HURIWA demanded that Sabiu be held accountable for his involvement in the currency redesign and voiced worry over what they saw as a violation of legal protocol.
In response, Dr. Gololo remarked, “What is stopping the EFCC or DSS from inviting Sabiu for questioning if Emefiele has been arrested and is currently on prosecution?”
The former ministers, he continued, should have their financial transactions while in government thoroughly investigated, particularly the ministers of finance, humanitarian affairs, aviation, and transportation.
Senator Hadi Sirika, the former minister of aviation, is presently being investigated for his purported expenses related to delivering a chartered aircraft that was quickly repainted as Nigeria Air.
Sadiya Umar Farouq, the former minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development, and Disaster Management, was also held accountable by HURIWA for misusing monies intended for social investment initiatives, namely school feeding.
Numerous accusations against her throughout her term, including misappropriation of social investment funds, corruption, and abuse of authority, have been made; as a result, the DSS and EFCC are requesting her immediate arrest and an inquiry.
