A former member House of Representatives and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Barrister Sani Mohammad Takori has advocated for the participation of the party in the forthcoming local government polls in Zamfara State.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, Takori said that any attempt by APC to boycott the election would be a suicide mission.

According to him, the speculation is getting stronger day by day that APC may not take part in the forthcoming local government election even though there is no official statement to that effect.

“We need to send words of caution that any attempt to boycott the election is a political suicide, not only to the party, but all members of the party including those who benefit from the fortune and misfortune of 2023 victory and defeat,” he added.

The party chieftain pointed out that the fear that the PDP government will manipulate election even before the votes are cast is never a reason to boycott the exercise.

“This scenario has it historical background not only in Zamfara State, but since the beginning of the Fourth Republic. It was only in 1999 that local elections were free and fair,” he noted.

Takori however stated that Zamfara State has now been blessed with strong opposition leaders that can change the narrative as witnessed in other states.
