No fewer than three persons have been reportedly injured after an improvised substance suspected to be dynamite exploded at the popular Igboukwu field, venue of a rally organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday.
The Nigerian News gathered that two of those injured are women, all of whom were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
The incident was confirmed by the APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, who described it as ‘unfortunate’.
Although the cause c of the explosion is yet unknown, there were reports of a disagreement between youths of Rumuji community, owners of the Igboukwu field, and APC officials over access to the field.
The youths, who were said to have stopped the party from holding the rally at the field located at the popular Mile one area of Port Harcourt, reportedly barricaded, and shut the entrance gate of the field.
