No fewer than 6,000 sick people are expected to benefit from a free medical outreach programme organized by Mbano National Assembly.
The medical outreach, said to cost over N200 million, was to provide medical succour to beneficiaries in surgery, ophthalmology psychology physiology among other healthcare services.
The medical outreach, held at Mbano Joint Hospital, was witnessed by many dignitaries from different walks of life in and outside Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
Chairman of Mbano National Assembly, Sir Basil Njoku, stated that the programme was borne out of the commitment of members of the Assembly to assist in ameliorating the health challenges in Isiala Mbano, Imo State and Nigeria at large.
Njoku said, “The medical outreach could be traced to the year 2000, when this organization, MNA, was formed. Since then, Mbano people in the United States of America take it as commitment every year to take care of their people here at home. Our people say health is wealth, so we conduct free medical mission to Mbano people every year for their health improvement. We have been doing this for the past 16 years. Also, here today, we have doctors, nurses and other medical professionals of all specialties, committed to take care of their own exclusively sponsored by the organization.”
Chairman, management board of Mbano Joint Hospital, Chief Matthew Emetumba, applauded the organization for the humanitarian gesture, urging other illustrious indigenes of the area in the diaspora to emulate MNA by seeing reason in thinking towards the well-being and development of their people at home.
