Atiku’s aide cautions Tinubu’s supporters not to interfere with proceedings of election court

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu have been warned to avoid the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) and not try to disrupt the proceedings following their recent protest march at the European Union headquarters in Abuja following the release of the European Union Observer Mission (EU-EOM) report.

In a statement he released on Sunday, Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, issued the warning.

He claimed that after what he perceived to be a sponsored protest at the EU office following the publication of the EU-EOM report, which claimed that the 2023 elections would be marred by irregularities, the warning had become urgent.

Shaibu said: “We take this opportunity to warn the Tinubu government against interfering with the election tribunal’s proceedings because they have demonstrated a clear contempt for the truth by picketing the EU office.

“Recall that thugs were sponsored to cause protests outside the courthouse in 1999 when the late legendary lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, sued Tinubu for forging school transcripts. Thugs were similarly sponsored to protest at the trial when Tinubu was on trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal in an effort to intimidate the legal system.

We find it odd that the same security organisations that have been issuing statements prohibiting protests were oddly available to provide cover for sponsored pro-government protesters to picket the EU office. We issue a warning to the security organisations to be on guard as the tribunal proceedings come to a close. The entire world is looking.

Shaibu further asserted in the statement that during Tinubu’s 40 days in office, poverty had gotten worse and inflation had skyrocketed.

Shaibu observed: “Food is now considered a luxury. People’s purchasing power has decreased as a result of the unanticipated removal of the petrol subsidy, which did not come with any form of palliatives. Any riffraff on the street could get a T-shirt and a placard for just N1,000 and participate in protests they have no idea about.

This is how far Nigeria has fallen since Tinubu took over as leader.

He claimed Tinubu was leading a government of hypocrisy by blaming the APC for failing to find scapegoats while refusing to hold the former president Muhammadu Buhari accountable.

“Tinubu ordered Godwin Emefiele’s detention while simultaneously blaming him for the nation’s economic woes and heaping praise on the person who not only appointed Emefiele but also gave him a national award. The height of hypocrisy, according to Atiku’s aide.
