AU Summit: Tinubu returns to Abuja amid escalating protest over hardship

.Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has returned home after attending the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union Heads of State and Government.

Recalls that on February 14, the president flew from Abuja, Nigeria, to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the Summit.

Tinubu arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Monday about 4:00 p.m. local time, five days after his departure.

He was received by top government officials including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu and the Minister of State for Defense, Bello Matawalle.

reporter reports that the president returned to the country amid the protest in many parts of the country following the economic hardship bedeviling citizens.

Recall that angry Nigerians had earlier blocked major roads in Ibandan the Oyo State capital and Otukpo, Benue State asking the Federal Government to urgently address the hardship.
