Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, and Senator Ajibola Basiru, the ninth Senate’s spokesperson, were formally confirmed on Thursday to succeed Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the APC’s outgoing national chairman, and Iyiola Omisore, the party’s outgoing national secretary.
The choice was made on Thursday, a short time after President Bola Tinubu arrived at the Transcorp Hilton, the location of the NEC meeting.
Around 11.35 am, the President arrived at the hotel’s Congress Hall flanked by stern-looking security guards who were possibly officers from the Department of State Services.

Following the news of their appointments, Ganduje and Basiru’s fans rejoiced to the extent where it nearly temporarily interrupted the programme.
Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, Chief Bisi Akande, the former governor of Osun State and the party’s first national chairman, Senator Abubakar Kyari, the ninth Senate’s spokeswoman, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and other dignitaries were among those who arrived early for the NEC meeting.
