…new President to emerge
A new president elected by the members of the authentic Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is set to emerge in a matter of hours from the elective congress of the Federation taking place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja where the headquarters of the AFN is located.
The congress consists of the chairmen of state AFN, who have gathered in Abuja since Saturday for the congress and elections.
Mr. Tony Okowa from Delta state is favoured to emerge as AFN President although Olamide George, former Acting President of the Federation, is likely to give him a tough challenge from the southwest zone.
Early this morning the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development dissolved the AFN Board citing the expiration of its term by invoking section 10.4 of the 2017 AFN Constitution.
