Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank, has been granted bail in the amount of N300 million, along with two sureties in the same amount.
Judge Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja allowed this on Wednesday.
The sureties must hold titles and certificates of occupancy for properties located in Abuja’s exclusive Maitama District.
Emefiele is required to turn in all of his travel documents to the court registrar and to stay in the Abuja Municipal Council as part of the terms of his bail.
Four months have passed since the Federal High Court in Lagos granted him bail totaling N20 million. This is the most recent bail award.
Emefiele is being prosecuted for financial misconduct and corruption. He was the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) at the time of the charges.
More to come.
