On the grounds of the Federal High Court in Lagos State, agents of the Department of State Services detained a senior official of Ikoyi Prisons.
The custody dispute over suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele may not be unrelated to the arrest.
The secret agency agents then freed the Ikoyi prison officer who had been rough-housed and pushed into the DSS van.
As they fought over who gets to keep custody of Emefiele, DSS agents and Nigeria Correctional Service employees engaged in a minor drama at the Federal High Court in Lagos State, according to prior reports.
The Federal Ministry of Justice charged Emefiele with illegally possessing weapons and ammunition, but after he entered a “not guilty” plea, the court granted him bail in the amount of N20 million with one surety.
A minor drama involving completely hooded DSS agents and NCS agents took place inside the courthouse as the defendant’s attorneys worked to fix his bail conditions. They were squabbling over who would have custody of the troubled CBN executive.
