After attending the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union (AU) in Nairobi, Kenya, President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja.
To prevent coups and fight terrorism in the area, Tinubu announced plans to bolster the ECOWAS Standby Force. He also rejected the idea of a fresh race for Africa while reiterating Africa’s strength and unity.
Sen. Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo State, Sen. George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation, chief of staff to the president, and former governor of Kano State Abdullahi Umar Ganduje were among those who greeted the president.
Tinubu’s return to Nigeria is met with controversies surrounding his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC recently announced the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore as National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
Adamu was the chairman of the party before Tinubu’s trip to Kenya. However, leadership changed hands a few hours ago, and Senator Abubakar Kyari has therefore announced himself as the acting national chairman of the party, citing the party constitution.
