Breaking: President Tinubu Requests NASS Approval of N500bn, Justifies Action

In order for the federal government under President Bola Tinubu‘s watch to be able to source N500 billion in palliative funding to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidies, President Tinubu has requested that the national assembly amend the 2022 supplementary appropriations act.
On Wednesday, July 12, it was reported by The Nation that this information was divulged in a letter that was read aloud on the floor of the House of Representatives by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas. In the letter, President Tinubu stated that the money would come from the N819 billion supplementary appropriations act for the year 2022.

The following is an excerpt from the letter:

“Request for the amendment of the 2022 appropriation act” reads in part: “I write to request the approval of the House of Representatives an amendment of the 2022 appropriation act in accordance with the law.
